I’m an Indian cultural journalist based in Vancouver, BC, and I come with a wide range of interests: the South Asian diaspora, identity, mental health, digital culture, human rights, and film and TV, among others. Currently, I’m fact-checking, editing, and writing as the Cannonbury Editorial Fellow at The Walrus.
I come with five years of experience in the digital publishing world. My work has appeared in various arts and culture publications in the U.S, Canada, and India including The New York Times, Vox, IndieWire, Hyperallergic, Chatelaine, The Georgia Straight, Vogue India, The Swaddle, Harper’s Bazaar India, Vice India, Architectural Digest India, and more.
I recently graduated with an M.A. in Arts and Culture from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and produced my capstone story on AI’s impact on the Indian arranged marriage institution. During my time here, I also received the 2023 Nona Balakian Award for literary journalism and the 2023 Journalism Editorial Award for opinion writing.
Previously, I served as the Junior Digital Features Editor at Vogue India and pursued my B.A. in Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
More than my education or work experience, what brings me back to my desk each morning is an innate, inevitable love for new stories, arranging sentences on paper, and making meaning of my many musings and observations about the world around me. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
